PCs  ARE THE BUILDING BLOCKS OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. THEY ARE THE GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING BASE FOR ALL OF OUR ACTIVITIES.

What does a pc do?

PCs play an important role in electing Democrats. It’s their job to get to know their neighbors, educate undecided or swing voters, and make sure Democrats are registered to vote. Before Election Day, they work to turn out voters.

PCs are also a central part of their local Democratic organization. They elect Party leadership, help fill vacancies in elected office, and attend their congressional  caucus every two years. Becoming active with your Democratic Congressional, County or local club will make you a more effective PC.

Here are are a few tasks that you can do as a PC:

how to become a pc

There are two ways to become a PC. Election by the voters in your precinct, or appointment by the county Democratic Party organization. PCs are also a central part of their local Democratic organization. They elect Party leadership, help fill vacancies in elected office, and attend their congressional caucus every two years. Becoming active in your precinct, County or local club will make you a more effective PC.

Democratic voters in each precinct will elect PCs every two years in an August Primary. A candidate who runs unopposed will be automatically elected; contested elections will appear on the primary ballot. PCs elected in August will take office on October 1st. All candidates for PC must file with their County Elections office on the dates prescribed by the Arizona Secretary of State. After that date, a candidate can run as a write in. A candidate can file as a write-in during a specified time before the August primary.

County Democratic Party organizations have the right to appoint PCs to fill any seats left vacant - either because no one filed to run, or because the elected PC has stepped down. If your precinct is vacant, the Chair of your County Democratic Party organization can appoint you to serve as an "appointed" PC.  Contact the Pinal County Democratic Party to learn about becoming an appointed or acting PC.
